Knutson Family Dentistry opened its doors in 1977, and three generations of local families have grown up in our chairs ever since. What began as Dr. Richard Knutson's practice is now led by his son, Dr. Matthew Knutson, who took over in 2017 — carrying forward the same values that built our reputation: integrity, dedication, and genuine compassion.

Our reputation is a direct result of the care every member of our team puts in. We take the time to understand each patient, we never judge anyone on their dental condition, and we treat every person who walks through our doors just like family.

Dr. Matthew Knutson, DDS

Matthew Knutson, DDS

Dentist

Dr. Matt is a Vermillion native and proud Vermillion High School graduate — go Tanagers! He earned the Presidential Alumni scholarship to USD, graduating with honors in 1999, then completed his dental degree at the University of Minnesota School of Dentistry in 2003. He joined his father's practice that year and took over in 2017. Through years of advanced continuing education, he brings implant, endodontic, orthodontic, Botox, and dermal filler services to the community. When he's not at work, you'll find him outdoors with his three boys — Wyatt, Max, and Emmett — hunting, fishing, and on the Missouri River.

Dr. Lee graduated from Northwestern University with dual degrees in biology and piano, where she discovered that dentistry beautifully merges art and science. Born and raised in Iowa, she earned her dental degree from the University of Iowa College of Dentistry in 2016 and practiced in Iowa and western Pennsylvania before moving to South Dakota in 2024. She earned her Fellowship in the Academy of General Dentistry, reflecting her commitment to continuing education and the highest quality of care. Outside the office she enjoys reading, music, arts and crafts, and time with family and friends.
